Customer Reviews
This rig is AWESOME! Aside from the cost savings, this rig has completely enhanced by sim driving experience. The super stiff chassis transfers the wheelbase vibrations throughout the cockpit giving the driver a more realistic “immersive” road feel. I can easily feel when the tires have grip and when they don’t. It’s very similar to how a go-kart feels when the wheels slip and chatter.
Earlier reviews mention lack of building instructions. The kit comes with a postcard with a URL address printed on it. My only suggestion is to add a QR code making it easier for users to navigate directly to the applicable instructions. Building the rig was simple yet time consuming. This is normal since not every person is the same and you will have to fine tune the rig to match your size and preferences, as you would any other rig.
I purchased the RigMetal Plus with Chassis Feet Kit, no monitor stand and no heel rest. My monitor is wall mounted and my MOZA R3 wheel package comes with its own heel rest on the pedal kit. If you don’t already have a heel rest, then you may want to get that add on as well. The “chassis feet kit” or “wheel castor kit” is a must if you prefer your rig to sit off the ground. This makes it easier to get in and out of, easier to clean under, and mutes vibrations to the floor making it quieter the use.
I totally recommend this kit over other top brands. You’ll get way more bang for your buck with RigMetal. I’ve research all kinds of kits over the past couple of years. It’s a shame RigMetal isn’t mentioned with the top brands because I would have purchased one sooner.
Bought this to use with my Simagic Alpha Mini and Simjack Mini pedals, and have had zero issues or performance complaints so far.
If the pedals you have take M6 bolts to mount, then you may need to consider purchasing an additional set of 4 M6 T-nuts if you have a 3-pedal setup, as the cockpit only includes 8 M6 T-nuts.
Great sim rig. Assembly takes some time, but it is not overly complicated if you take your time. Once built, the chassis is rock solid with zero flex, looks fantastic, and keeps a manageable footprint. Adding the caster wheels and single monitor stand made it a complete, self-contained setup. When the caster wheels are locked down, it takes effort to move the rig on my hardwood floors. Unlocked, they roll very smooth and easy. Highly recommend this to anyone looking for a proper sim setup without the inflated price tag.
I ordered the rigmetal plus and added the wheels. Built very solid. Materials and coatings were excellent. It was a fun build. Excited to start racing.
No complaints on the rig. An abundant amount of fasteners and accessories were included. Some modifications on the angled brackets is needed to mount the seating rail but that’s easy work. Rig width might be a bit tight if bucket seat is too large
