Mostly satisfied and would likely buy again

Mostly satisfied and would likely buy again. I was disappointed that finish on some of the cnc machined bracket parts were flawed in multiple spots. They looked like they bounced around in a drawer for a year prior to being packaged.

Excellent rig — extremely rigid and very adjustable

This was my first aluminum profile rig, and I’m not particularly handy or experienced with this kind of thing. I was a little intimidated going into the build, but the instructions were clear and I was able to assemble the entire rig myself without any major issues.

Once assembled, the RigMetal Plus is incredibly solid. I’m using a 12 Nm direct-drive wheelbase and load-cell pedals, and there is essentially no noticeable flex while driving or braking hard.

The adjustability is probably my favorite part. The wheel and pedals can be adjusted for height, distance, and angle. I changed my driving position several times after actually trying the rig, and it was easy to loosen the profile, reposition things, and tighten everything back down.

I also bought the RigMetal heel plate because my pedals did not come with one, and I’m very happy with it. I added the chassis feet as well. They’re extremely sturdy, and the additional height turned out to have an unexpected benefit: it gave me enough floor clearance to lower my pedal assembly farther than I could have if the bottom profile had been sitting directly on the floor.

I paired the cockpit with a Sim-Lab triple monitor stand because I specifically wanted their Vario VESA mounts for fine monitor alignment. One minor difference I noticed is that the RigMetal finish seems a little easier to scratch than the Sim-Lab profile. That’s purely cosmetic and hasn’t affected my opinion of the rig.

Overall, I honestly don’t know what I would gain from spending considerably more on a cockpit. The RigMetal Plus is extremely rigid, highly adjustable, and gives me plenty of room to add or change things in the future. I’m very happy with it and would absolutely buy it again.

Skookum Stuff to Withstand Hard Racing

The 4080 profile extruded aluminum frame elements are very solid with the included brackets and gussets. The assembly instructions are very clear and well organized to ensure proper assembly sequences. The T-nuts in the kit are easy to install and, being bigger than some, remain properly oriented without struggle. The result is a solid sim racing cockpit.
